Location: Remote, Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC)

ROLE OR PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

VA’s work is guided by an implementation science (IS) approach to improve the implementation and impact of nutrition policies, programs, and interventions. The Project Coordinator, DRC will be responsible for coordinating and supporting implementation research projects and providing technical support for activities aimed at strengthening the implementation of evidence-based nutrition interventions within DRC. This individual will work closely with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and evaluate research studies and programs aimed at informing programmatic decision-making and improving outcomes.

Additionally, this position will serve as Country Coordinator for DRC for ‘Transforming Lives Through Nutrition’, a program that will sustainably build the capacity of local health and food systems in partnership with local communities and governments to deliver evidence-based, lifesaving nutrition interventions to accelerate the well-being of women and children in LMICs, including DRC.

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Provide technical assistance to support the design and implementation of implementation research studies, including developing research protocols, data collection tools, and analysis plans.
  • Collaborate with project teams and country teams to identify research questions, objectives, and outcomes that align with organizational goals.
  • Develop and manage project workplans, communicate project updates, and facilitate presentations on key milestones 
  • Coordinate data collection activities, including training staff, managing data collection processes, and ensuring data quality and integrity.
  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative data analysis, interpret findings, and prepare reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the dissemination of research findings through the preparation of manuscripts, reports, presentations, and other publications.
  • Under the ‘Transforming Lives Through Nutrition’ program, the Project Coordinator, DRC will:

* Serve as the primary point of contact for the Program Support Manager and Global Technical Team
* Represent VA in Consortium meetings 
* Working closely with the VA Country Director, represent VA in relevant MoH Nutrition Technical Working or Advisory Groups
* Convene and facilitate the in-country cross organization communication and meetings
* In coordination with all consortium partners, ensure representation for the consortium at national and subnational platforms

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in public health, nutrition, or similar/relevant discipline from an accredited university 
  • Minimum 1-3 years of experience in implementation science, implementation/operations research, program evaluation, or a related research field
  • Strong understanding of research methodology, study design, and data analysis techniques
  • Experience coordinating research projects and program initiatives, including coordinating team members, managing budgets, and meeting deadlines
  • Based in DRC and/or exposure to the DRC health system 
  • Experience working in maternal and child health and nutrition in the Africa region broadly, including in DRC. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment
  • Excellent writing and editing skills with strong attention to detail 
  • Experience working with donor-funded initiatives
  • Professional fluency in French and English language
